Timberjack 460D Forestry Skidder

Heavy Haul Trucking Move

This forestry skidder had to be moved from Mississippi to Pensylvania. Forestry skidders are used in  logging operations for pulling cut tress out of a forest to a cleared landing site. This process of pulling the cut trees out is called "skidding". This particular model is a Timberjack 460D, these are fairly common skidders used by the forestry industry.
Other variants of the skidder include the grapple skidder and the cable skidder.

The grapple skidder uses a hydaraulic grapple bucket (this is a bucket similar to a clamshell or claw) to pull logs.

The cable skidder uses a cable attached to the logs to pull them, the cable is on a winch.

A newer modification is named the clam-bunk skidder, which has a high load size capacity, ie: can load / move /carry more logs in one trip. Clambunk skidders are the most expensive of the three types of skidders used in logging operations.
